Weekend Flurries

We spent a very fast two days in Eau Claire last weekend, with travel days in and out of MSP on either side. During our short time away, we did the following:
– Bought a beautiful C-3PO suitcase
– Hired a photographer
– Sampled wedding cupcakes
– Talked to the Eau Claire County Clerk to make sure we have all necessary documents for obtaining marriage license in April 2017 (we need to order just one thing)
– Tried out some restaurants as potential locations for family meals during wedding weekend 2017
– Met with wedding coordinator at The Florian Gardens for tour and planning
– Found the wedding dress (which we carried home in the C-3PO suitcase!)
– Found the perfect pants to finish off Jen’s Captain Marvel costume for Halloween
– Ordered wedding rings AND
– Hired a wedding officiant

I’m fatigued all over again just writing about all that activity. We’re in good shape as far as the wedding prep timeline is concerned.

Big Weekend Coming Up

We will be in Eau Claire for a couple of days later this month to visit Jen’s family (especially her parent who’s recovering from major surgery) and to take care of some wedding business: we will sample cupcakes, sign a photography contract, meet with potential officiants, meet with our wedding venue coordinator, shop for wedding clothes and rings, and anything else for which there’s time.

Jen will also be having her hair bleached for her Halloween costume. Carol “Captain Marvel” Danvers is coming to the public library-for one day only!

No Gifts, Please

We are intent on having a very simple, day-trip-driveable-for-many-family-and-friends wedding. This means it will *not* be extravagant and we are *not* serving a meal or having a dance. In short, what you will get as a participant in our wedding is not something for which we want or expect you to reimburse us in the form of gifts. This is Jen’s second rodeo and Gary’s third and we live in a small New York apartment, so we don’t have any need or space for yet more household items.

If you come to our wedding, that will be great fun for everyone; but please bring only your wonderful selves.

No, Really

We also would like to think of the people who will feel bad for following directions if someone else decides not to follow directions.  We don’t want anyone feeling bad at our celebration.  So, please, do NOT bring any gift.
